Construction Activity Sequence

Multiple construction activities may occur simultaneously.

This is a general description of how the construction will progress. Each section of the alignment has unique features and requirements which may change the order of the sequence and/or add new elements to it.

Acquire pipeline construction easements
Trees and stumps removed along alignment
Pipeline installation:

  • Signage up (or notification given) two weeks prior to construction beginning
  • Notification given 48 hours or 500 feet prior to construction reaching residences
  • Dust control is continuous during construction hours, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Traffic rerouted or flagged for safety
  • Pipeline installation begins
  • Asphalt removal or grinding
  • Trenches excavated to the length expected to be completed during the day
  • Driveways along alignment will have plates installed for ingress/egress over open trench
  • Gravel installed and leveled inside the trench
  • Pipe wrapped in plastic coating and laid in place
  • Pipe connected and welded together
  • Welds tested and approved
  • Fiber optic conduit installed
  • Pipeline backfill installed and compacted
  • Trench backfill installed and compacted
  • Road base and asphalt cap installed over trench
  • Treated water system, which includes fire hydrants and residential services, installed after raw water pipeline is completed; the above sequence repeats while treated water system is installed
